1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or device when you visit a website. They allow the site to “remember” your actions and preferences for a period of time. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, web beacons, SDKs) serve comparable purposes and are also covered by this Policy.

The use of cookies is governed by:

  • Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006, as replaced by Law 4070/2012 (implementing Directives 2002/58/EC and 2009/136/EC, “ePrivacy”), which requires the user’s prior consent for the placing of any cookie that is not strictly necessary;
  • the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), as regards any personal data collected through cookies;
  • the Hellenic Data Protection Authority’s “Recommendations on compliance of controllers with the special legislation on electronic communications” (25.02.2020) and the Authority’s subsequent enforcement practice on cookies and similar tracking tools.

Accordingly:

  • Strictly necessary cookies are placed without consent.
  • All other cookies are placed only after your express, affirmative action (clicking “Accept” or selecting categories). Inactivity, closing the banner, continued browsing or scrolling does not constitute consent.
  • Refusing is as easy as accepting, and consent can be withdrawn at any time without affecting the core functionality of the Website.

3. Categories of cookies we use

These are needed for the Website to function: maintaining your session, security, load balancing, protecting forms against malicious submissions, and storing your cookie choices. Without them the Website does not work properly, and they cannot be switched off.

These remember your choices, such as the display language, and improve your experience.

These help us understand how the Website is used (page traffic, time on page, traffic source, errors) so that we can improve it. Where feasible we use data-minimising settings (for example IP anonymisation).

These are used to display personalised advertising and measure its performance. As at the date of this Policy, the Website does not use cookies of this category. Should that change, this Policy and the consent tool will be updated before any such cookie is activated.

3.5 Third-party cookies

Embedded third-party content (for example video, maps, social media widgets) may place its own cookies. Such content is loaded only with your consent. Processing by those providers is governed by their own policies.

On your first visit a banner is displayed with equally prominent “Accept all”, “Reject all” and “Settings” options, where you can choose by category.

Withdrawing or changing consent: through the “Cookie settings” link permanently available in the footer of every page. Withdrawal takes effect for the future and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

Duration of consent: your choice is stored for a maximum of six (6) months, after which you will be asked again.

6. Browser settings

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them entirely may affect the functionality of the Website.
